SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - A private school in Scottsdale says a third-grade teacher has quit after posting offensive Twitter posts.

Pardes Jewish Day School says it and Bonnie Verne mutually agreed to her resignation earlier this week, and Verne confirmed her resignation during an interview Wednesday with The Associated Press.

Verne confirmed that the now-deleted Twitter account that included tweets suggesting that illegal immigrants be killed was hers but said attorneys advised her against discussing the tweets.

The tweets drew outage on social media, and Verne told the AP that her biggest concern is injuring the schools’ name and reputation.

Pardes said in a letter to parents that “hateful comments” had no place at the school and that school officials were certain that Verne’s political views didn’t enter her classroom.
