SAN DIEGO (AP) - A San Diego woman has pleaded guilty to hiding 44 people in her home who were in the country illegally.

Dania Olivero pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday to concealing, harboring and shielding the immigrants at her home in the City Heights neighborhood.

Under the plea agreement, Olivero acknowledged that she received thousands of dollars to shelter people who were smuggled into the United States from Mexico and Guatemala.

Olivero was arrested in November after neighbors complained that people were being dropped off at the home.

Olivero, a legal immigrant from Cuba, could be deported because of her conviction.
