CONWAY, S.C. (AP) - Coroners are awaiting the autopsy results for a South Carolina man who died at a detention facility.

The Sun News of Myrtle Beach reports (https://bit.ly/2relwWM ) an officer at J. Reuben Long Detention Center found 39-year-old Byron Joseph Bland unresponsive on Tuesday and alerted medical personnel.

Horry County Deputy Coroner Darris Fowler says Bland was pronounced dead at the jail shortly thereafter. Fowler says results from an autopsy conducted Wednesday may be available in 90 to 120 days.



Bland was arrested Monday on drug and neglect charges, and was transported from the Myrtle Beach jail to the county detention center the same day.

Fowler says no foul play is suspected at this time. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and sheriff’s office are investigating.
