READING, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania magistrate accused of drunken driving plans to apply for a program for first-time offenders.
The attorney for 29-year-old District Judge Kyley Scott says Scott will apply for the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program, which allows first-time offenders to avoid jail time and have their records cleared.
Scott is the daughter of Reading Mayor Wally Scott.
The Reading Eagle (https://bit.ly/2qFds2s ) reports that Scott waived her preliminary hearing Wednesday.
Reading police stopped Scott April 2 after a woman reported seeing her vehicle swerving after leaving a bar. Police say Scott’s blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Scott has continued to serve since being charged April 13.
