COVENTRY, R.I. (AP) - Police in Rhode Island say a construction worker was injured after his legs became trapped under thousands of pounds of concrete.

Coventry police say the worker’s legs became trapped after the foundation gave way Monday morning at a construction site where a house is being built.

The property owner tells WPRI-TV crews had been doing drainage work.

North Kingstown Special Hazards crews removed the concrete from the victim. He was airlifted to the hospital with injuries police say aren’t considered life-threatening.

A spokesperson for the Occupational Safety and Health Administration says a review of the incident could take up to 180 days.
