CEDAR GROVE, N.J. (AP) - Authorities have released the name of a man killed when his mountain bike plunged about 20 feet (6 meters) off a cliff in a wooded area.

Family members say 49-year-old Kerry Rivera, of Wayne, was biking with his brother at the Mills Reservation in Cedar Grove on Monday when he lost control around 9 a.m. and fell onto the rocky ledge.

Rescuers needed ropes to reach Rivera and recover his body. He had served with the Paterson Fire Department since 2003.

Authorities say the fall appears to have been accidental and foul play is not suspected. But they say the investigation into the death is ongoing.
