BURRILLVILLE, R.I. (AP) - Police say four men have been transported to the hospital with serious injuries after a pickup truck hit a tree in Rhode Island.

Burrillville police say the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday. Police say firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue tools to free two of the men, and two others were inside the bed of the pickup truck at the time of the crash.

Major Dennis Leahey says the men suffered broken bones and one man has a “significant” head injury. Leahey says the men’s ages ranged from 19 to 21, but their names have not been released.

Police say the pickup truck was the only vehicle involved in the crash. The cause is still under investigation.
