ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Crews rescued four workers who became trapped in a gravel pit near Placitas as they were trying to fix equipment.

KOB-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2suhzui) that the men were brought to hospitals Thursday night after gravel caved in on two men at the La Farge mine.

Two other workers who went in to rescue them also became trapped.

Two were buried up to their necks, a third to his chest and the fourth to his waist when emergency personnel arrived.

Three hours after authorities were alerted of the situation, two of the workers were rescued.

The two other workers were rescued a few hours later.
