ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A Rochester judge has been jailed without bail after missing a court appearance related to a previous drunken driving conviction.

Judge Leticia Astacio was arrested Monday on a bench warrant issued by Judge Stephen Aronson after Astacio missed a court appearance last week. Astacio’s lawyer, Ed Fiandach, says Astacio missed the court date because she was staying with monks in a temple in Thailand.

Aronson ordered Astacio held without bail until a court date Thursday.

Astacio was convicted of DWI last August. She had been arrested on her way to work. Her sentence included random alcohol testing and an ignition interlock device.

Aronson issued an arrest warrant after Astacio didn’t appear in court to answer allegations that she had bypassed the interlock device. Her lawyer says Astacio disputes that allegation.
