SMITHFIELD, R.I. (AP) - Residents of one Rhode Island town are being warned to be on the lookout for bobcats.

WJAR-TV (https://bit.ly/2pjHTdN ) reports that Smithfield police say there have been multiple bobcat sightings in town and neighboring communities.

Police advise residents to keep a close eye on small pets or children when outside.

Two bobcat sightings were reported in Cranston last year. Officials said the cats didn’t interact with people during that time. They tend to be reclusive animals
