EASTHAMPTON, Mass. (AP) - The Massachusetts attorney general is investigating a high school after complaints of rising racial tensions.
Superintendent Nancy Follansbee told the Daily Hampshire Gazette (https://bit.ly/2rjEeNF ) on Wednesday that the investigation into Easthampton High School comes as part of the attorney general’s increased scrutiny of potential civil rights violations. She said the office has requested “copious” documents from the school.
In March, three students were arrested and accused of attacking another student who they said had used a racial slur. The school also banned images of the Confederate flag after student wore a sweatshirt showing the flag to school.
The state attorney general’s office confirmed the investigation but declined to go into specifics.
