ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York man convicted of driving around with his girlfriend’s body after she fatally overdosed on heroin has been sentenced to a maximum of 13 years in prison.

Domenic Mineccia, of Greece, is facing nine years for drug charges and an additional 1-4 years for evidence tampering.

Police say Mineccia bought and prepared heroin for himself and 24-year-old Nicola Grana on Christmas Eve 2014, then left the home. He returned to find Grana dead in a water-filled bathtub. Their 16-month-old child was also in the tub.

Mineccia put both mother and child in his car, drove around, then returned home and called 911.

Prosecutors say Mineccia had “little regard” for his family when he gave Grana the drugs. Mineccia’s attorney says he plans to appeal the conviction.
