SAN DIEGO (AP) - Two defense contractors have been sentenced for helping steal $3 million in medical equipment intended for Marine combat units, including those in Afghanistan.

Henry Bonilla was sentenced Friday in San Diego to 15 months in federal prison. Richard Navarro got a year behind bars.

They pleaded guilty to conspiracy involving the theft of equipment from Camp Pendleton Marine base in Southern California.

Prosecutors say the civilian contractors had access to base warehouses that stored anesthesia machines, ultrasound devices, defibrillators and other expensive medical equipment.

Authorities say the stolen items were bought by medical equipment resellers.
