SALEM, Ore. (AP) - A California man has been sentenced to five years and one month in prison after pleading guilty to the delivery of 14 pounds (6 kilograms) of methamphetamine.

The Statesman Journal reports (https://stjr.nl/2qkdyw8 ) 47-year-old Arturo Carbajal had been sentenced Wednesday.

On April 5, Carbajal had been stopped on an interstate in Oregon after failing to use a turn signal. His car was then searched and 14 pounds of meth had been found in the trunk wrapped in a garbage bag.

Carbajal will be required to serve three years of post-prison supervision upon his release.

A passenger, Ernesto Chavez-Cruz, had been in the vehicle with Carbajal during the traffic stop. Chavez-Cruz failed to appear at a court hearing scheduled for April 13.
