MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) - A teenager who set a mannequin head ablaze in the elevator of a Medford parking garage has been sentenced to probation after pleading guilty to arson.
The Mail Tribune reports (https://is.gd/enP8O1)18-year-old Mikal Walton admitted that he and a 24-year-old co-defendant started the fire after a night of drinking. Walton told the judge his actions were stupid and he regrets them.
Walton’s co-defendant, Anthony Montes, pleaded guilty last week and was also sentenced to probation.
They have been ordered to pay restitution for the damage caused to the elevator wall and floor. An exact cost has not yet been determined, though prior reports estimated the damage to be valued at more than $1,000.
Walton was arrested May 3 and spent 22 days in jail.
