ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Last year, the day after Donald Trump became the presumptive Republican Party nominee for president, I left the Republican Party of Virginia to build the Constitution Party of Virginia. Now the Republican Party has betrayed not just conservatives but the American people in passing its own version of government-run health care. But make absolutely no mistake about it; the bill the House of Representatives passed does not repeal Obamacare. It only revises it.

When the Democrats passed Obamacare they required that people pay the mandates that Chief Justice John Roberts referred to as a tax in his judicial decision. It doesn’t take a nuclear engineer such as myself to realize that removing the mandates and shifting the subsides to other groups of people favored by Republicans will result in increased taxes and increased profits for insurance companies.

It is up to the American people to consider leaving the two big political parties and consider joining the libertarian or Constitution parties. We may disagree on some issues, but we all support liberty and the U.S. Constitution, and we will always work together to find real solutions to America’s problems — without involving big government. In the words of Ronald Reagan, the greatest president of my lifetime, “In this present crisis, government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
