BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Police say a Vermont woman is suspected of stealing plants from multiple houses in the city of Burlington.
Police say basil plants and flower pots were stolen from outside residences on Isham Street and Hickok Place about 12:30 a.m. Saturday.
A witness took a photograph of the alleged vehicle involved.
Police say the car is registered to 37-year-old Morningstar Porta of Essex Junction, who matched the description of the suspect given by several witnesses.
Porta told the Burlington Free Press (https://bfpne.ws/2r8j57T ) that she wouldn’t steal plants. She said she cleans apartments after college students move out and her vehicle was all over that area that night. She says she’s unclear what evidence police have to charge her.
She’s been cited to appear in court on June 22.
