ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Brain analysis, rather than more gun laws or more guns, may be a better path toward reducing the incidence of mindless mass killings occurring across the nation.

Congress should pass legislation to make mandatory the protection, subsequent excision and analysis of the brains of these mentally ill killers. Cease searching for a reason, as if there were one, for the indiscriminate taking of life. There is none, except for a diseased mind. Cumulative analysis of these diseased brains, over time, could very well point to the basic anomalies that provoke such irrational behavior. Once discovered, discussion could then begin on identifying, through behavioral patterns, the candidates who must be scanned in order for appropriate, protective measures to be taken before more killings occur.

The fact that most of these murderers kill themselves immediately after taking the lives of others is indication that even they cannot abide what they have done. We must approach this issue rationally, rather than emotionally, for doing the latter is getting us nowhere.
