RENO, Nev. (AP) - A 33-year-old Reno man with a long criminal history faces up to life in prison after he was convicted of illegal drug-trafficking.

Police say Brian Caperonis was arrested on an outstanding warrant following a routine traffic stop just east of downtown Reno in June 2016.

A search of his belongings at the Washoe County Jail uncovered two bags of methamphetamine, including one the size of a bean bag with 40 grams of meth hidden inside his underwear.

County prosecutors say he has five prior felony convictions so they intend to seek habitual status at his sentencing scheduled for Dec. 4.

If he receives the maximum, he would face up to life in prison with no chance of parole for at least 10 years.
