CLEVELAND (AP) - Federal agents searching for a Cleveland police officer who’s on the run while facing charges of attacking his girlfriend have surrounded a house in the city.

U.S. Marshals, other officers and police vehicles were set up outside the house Tuesday.

Cleveland.com reports a negotiator using a bullhorn asked Officer Tommie Griffin III to come to a door to talk or signal that he’s OK. It wasn’t clear whether anyone replied.

Authorities say Griffin broke his GPS ankle monitor last weekend and fled. He was due to go on trial next week on rape, felonious assault and kidnapping charges.

Police say he pistol-whipped his girlfriend and fired two shots next to her during the attack at their Parma home in January.

Authorities later seized more than 60 guns from his home.
