KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - Authorities say a man who escaped a Tennessee jail after assaulting an officer has been captured.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement that 25-year-old Ezekiel Lee Thompson had been wanted on charges of felony escape, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment stemming from an incident Thursday morning at the Cocke County Jail.

The statement says Thompson escaped on foot after assaulting a corrections officer. He was added to the state’s top 10 most wanted list.

The agency said he was spotted walking along a street in Newport on Thursday evening. He was later located and arrested by a Cocke County deputy.

TBI had offered a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to Thompson’s arrest.
