FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - Authorities in Arkansas say they’ve apprehended a man who they say kidnapped his infant child and fled after attacking the baby’s mother.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office said on Twitter Wednesday that they had apprehended 38-year-old Danny Trent Barrows.

Officials say Barrows stabbed the child’s mother in the leg and struck her with his fists Monday night, then took the 2-month-old baby and fled the town of Winslow in a sedan. Later, police said Barrows was last seen driving a pickup truck near Mountainburg.

An Amber Alert was issued but was canceled Tuesday morning after the baby was returned safely to her mother.
