ZACHARY, La. (AP) - Police records show a Louisiana officer who used a stun gun on a handcuffed man is serving a 13-day suspension without pay.

The Advocate of Baton Rouge reported Thursday that Zachary Police Chief David McDavid determined Officer Daulton Rainwater violated policies, including use of force.

A disciplinary letter says that during a call at a Best Western Hotel in April, Rainwater handcuffed an allegedly drunken man and placed him in his police unit. The letter says the man started to kick a window and Rainwater fired his stun gun and “guided” the man to the ground. Another officer submitted a complaint accusing Rainwater of using excessive force.
