RICHFORD, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police say a man who has evaded police for nearly a year was arrested after he was found hiding in a piece of furniture.

Officials say 47-year-old Duane Delisle, of Richford, was being sought on sexual assault charges. The Burlington Free Press reports police were informed that Delisle was hiding out in a Richford home and conducted a search Monday.

Trooper John Bruzzi says he found Delisle hiding inside the furniture, which he described as a wooden trunk functioning as a coffee table. The trooper says Delisle was arraigned Monday.

Court records say he pleaded not guilty to the sexual assault charge. His Defender General’s Office-appointed attorney declined to comment.
