FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - An award-winning Arizona teacher says he is looking for job opportunities outside of the state due to concerns over low pay and low funding from the state.

The Arizona Daily Sun reports 2014 Coconino Teacher of the Year Jeff Taylor announced in a March 24 letter that he will be leaving Flagstaff High School at the end of the school year.

He currently teaches AP chemistry and environmental science and serves as the chair of the AP Academy at the school.

He says the low pay, increased class size and a concern for the quality of education his daughter is receiving have pushed him and his wife to consider moving to Oregon or returning to Washington, his home state, where he will likely receive higher pay.
