CHESTERFIELD, Mo. (AP) - Authorities say no one was hurt when a small single-engine plane tipped onto its nose as it was landing at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that airport aviation director John Bales is blaming the wind. The pilot was the only person aboard the taildragger plane when it toppled forward Tuesday night. Bales says the pilot told him that he “barely felt a jolt.”
Bales says the plane leaked a few gallons of fuel. Firefighters put foam on the runway as a precaution.
