SMYRNA, Del. (AP) - A Delaware woman whose vehicle struck a tractor-trailer has died.

News outlets cite a release from Delaware State Police that says 24-year-old Rahvey Vails was attempting on Monday to pass a tractor-trailer that was turning from outside the right turn lane because of the trailer’s length. Vails’ car struck the truck on its left side, with the impact redirecting the car into two steel poles, causing the car to overturn.

Vails was pronounced dead at the scene. She was wearing a seatbelt at the time.

The 73-year-old truck driver was wearing his seatbelt. He didn’t suffer any injuries. Police said impairment didn’t appear to be a factor in his case.

The crash is under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
