RUTLAND, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man has pleaded not guilty to attempted murder and attempted assault and robbery in an apparent drug-related incident.

The Rutland Herald reports that 27-year-old Christopher Hale, of West Rutland, was in court on Monday. A second man, 28-year-old Joshua Stone, also pleaded not guilty to attempted assault and robbery in connection with the same incident on Friday in West Rutland.

Court papers say a witness said Stone had allegedly gone to an apartment to sell marijuana when he said he was robbed at gunpoint. Court papers say Stone and Hale returned later and Hale allegedly shot at the building.

Hail was ordered held without bail pending another hearing. Stone was ordered held on $10,000 bail.
