AURORA, Colo. (AP) - A pair of Colorado police officers will not face criminal charges in the fatal shooting of a rapper.
The Aurora Sentinel reports the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office has determined Aurora Officers Zachary Ploch and David Kaufman were justified in shooting 42-year-old Esmond Trimble.
Trimble recorded songs under the pseudonym Ron Eazi from the late 2000s until about 2013.
Authorities say Trimble was wearing body armor on his torso and chest when he fired 15 pistol rounds at the officers Jan. 15.
Police say the officers found Trimble’s wife and children outside when they responded to a report of a family member acting erratically.
Authorities say Trimble refused orders to drop two weapons and exchanged gunfire with the officers inside the home.
Neither officer was injured.
