BRENTWOOD, Tenn. (AP) _ Brookdale Senior Living Inc. (BKD) on Monday reported a loss of $42.6 million in its first quarter.
The Brentwood, Tennessee-based company said it had a loss of 23 cents per share.
The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 33 cents per share.
The senior housing company posted revenue of $1.04 billion in the period.
Brookdale shares have declined slightly more than 3% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $6.47, a fall of 10% in the last 12 months.
