LIBERTY, Mo. (AP) - A 19-year-old woman drowned after she jumped into a pond at a Liberty sports complex, police said Tuesday.

Searchers recovered the body of Dashiza Jordan from a retention pond Tuesday at the Capitol Federal Sports Complex in Liberty, police said in a news release.

Jordan’s cousin told police Jordan began to panic as they drove by the complex Monday afternoon. When the cousin stopped the car, Jordan got out and jumped into the pond, said Liberty police spokesman Capt. Andy Hedrick.

A search for Jordan on Monday was unsuccessful. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patrol found her when the search resumed Tuesday.
