TRENTON, Neb. (AP) - The Nebraska State Patrol is investigating a shooting early Tuesday involving a Hitchcock County sheriff’s deputy in southwestern Nebraska.
The shooting occurred around 1:40 a.m., about half-an-hour after deputies were called for reports of a man shooting a gun near a home in Trenton, the patrol said in a news release. The patrol said deputies called for medics about 10 minutes after arriving on the scene, saying shots had been fired.
The man who was shot was taken to a McCook hospital, then flown to a Lincoln hospital, where the patrol said he was in stable condition, the patrol said. Authorities had not released his name or details of what led to the shooting. Charges had not yet been filed by midday Tuesday.
No officers were injured in the shooting.
