JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - Jurors found a Jersey City police officer guilty of taking cash from a man’s wallet during a stop while on duty.

The panel on Thursday convicted Denzel Suitt, 28, of official misconduct and theft by unlawful taking. It also found Suitt guilty of theft in the value of $500 or less.

Suitt was in uniform and on duty when he stopped the man on Bayside Terrace on March 25, 2018, authorities said. It was during that stop that authorities said Suitt took the cash from the man’s wallet.

The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office internal affairs unit investigated the incident.

Suitt is scheduled to be sentenced on April 24..
