RADCLIFF, Ky. (AP) - A Kentucky man who was wounded when he rushed at officers with a knife has been charged with assault, police said.
The Radcliff Police Department filed the charge against Joseph R. Godsey, 34, on Monday, Kentucky State Police said in a statement.
Two Radcliff officers, Roger D. Beets III and Jonah L. Everage, fired at Godsey last month while responding to an early morning report of an armed robbery, authorities said.
Police found Godsey with a knife in the parking lot of an apartment building. He didn’t obey repeated commands to put down the knife and then charged toward the officers, who fired and hit him, Kentucky State Police Trooper Scotty Sharp said.
Godsey was treated at a hospital. Police did not update his condition.
It wasn’t immediately clear if Godsey had an attorney.
