WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Wichita police believe they have found the body of a 50-year-old homicide victim from Hutchinson.
The body was found Thursday east of Rock in northwest Cowley County, Wichita police spokesman Charley Davidson said. It is “believed to be 50-year-old Jeffrey Jones,” he said.
The Regional Forensic Science Center will make a positive identification, KAKE-TV reported.
Jeffrey Hill, 53, has been charged with second-degree intentional murder, criminal possession of a firearm by a felon and drug distribution in Jones’ death.
Police have said a man reported that Hill was involved in a homicide in Wichita in December. The man said Jones’ body was buried at an unknown location outside of Wichita.
Investigators determined Jones was the victim and evidence and witness interviews led to Hill’s arrest. He and the Jones were acquaintances, police said.
Hill has prior convictions for aggravated robbery, burglary, theft, forgery, identity theft, drug possession and trafficking contraband into a penal institution.
