CARNEYS POINT (AP) - A woman and her two young children were found stabbed to death inside their New Jersey home, and a man identified as the woman’s husband took his own life in a wooded area nearby, authorities said Thursday.

The woman and her children suffered multiple stab wounds, the Salem County prosecutor’s office said. Their deaths were ruled homicides. Authorities identified the victims as Ruth Reyes Severino, Eurianny Severino and Eury Severino.

Eugenio Severino’s death was ruled a suicide.

Authorities have said a passerby reported finding Eugenio Severino’s body in woods in Carneys Point on Wednesday morning. Police checked his address of record and discovered the bodies of Ruth Reyes Severino and the children.

Family members and neighbors said the married couple had been having problems. A neighbor, Elibeth Ortiz, said Reyes kicked her husband out of their apartment about a month ago, then took out a restraining order against him after he called and threatened to kill her.

Penns Grove Police Chief Patrick Riley confirmed Reyes obtained a restraining order against Severino in mid-January.

He said the case remains under investigation.
