LOWELL, Mass. (AP) - A 35-year-old woman has been charged with murder in the stabbing of a 34-year-old man in Lowell, authorities said Monday.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan said Juanita Laureano of Lowell is accused of stabbing Efrain Ruiz in the back on July 8. Authorities say another man, Jose Rios, got into a fistfight with Ruiz and Laureano pulled out a knife and stabbed Ruiz during the fight.
Officials say Ruiz walked to Lemon Tree Food Shops seeking help and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Rios, 47, has been charged with assault and battery, prosecutors said.
The district attorneys office said Laureano and Rios are expected to be arraigned Monday. It was not immediately clear whether they have lawyers.
