NEW YORK (AP) - A 45-year-old Queens woman was fatally stabbed Friday, and her husband, who also suffered stab wounds, was in custody, police said.

Officers responding to a 911 call shortly before 2:30 a.m. found a man and woman inside an apartment in Jackson Heights, both with stab wounds.

The man and woman were taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where Yaqueline Collado was pronounced dead.

Police said Collado’s 41-year-old husband was in critical condition and in custody. Charges against him were pending. His name was not immediately released.

Neighbor Sandra Encarnacion told the Daily News that Collado was “a good mother and hardworking.”
