SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Multiple people may have opened fire at a large outdoor party in a shooting that left a 17-year-old boy critically injured and eight others wounded, according to a prosecutor.
Syracuse police on Monday were investigating the shooting Saturday night into a crowd of a few hundred people. Onondaga County District Attorney Bill Fitzpatrick said forensic evidence and eyewitness accounts point to more than one shooter.
Witnesses said several hundred people had gathered for food and music, but shots rang out shortly before the party was to end at 9 p.m.
An unidentified 17-year-old was shot in the head. Other shooting victims ranged in age from 18 to 53 and were expected to survive. A handful suffered leg wounds.
Investigators have not released a motive for the shooting.
