The Washington Redskins are expected to sign running back J.D. McKissic to a two-year deal, according to multiple reports.

Last season, McKissic, 26, rushed for 205 yards on 38 attempts. He also caught another 34 passes for 233 yards and a touchdown.

Because of his pass-catching ability, McKissic could fill the role of third-down specialist Chris Thompson, who is a free agent. He joins a crowded running back room that includes Adrian Peterson, Derrius Guice and Bryce Love.

The NFL Network first reported the deal.

Before the Lions, McKissic spent the first three years with the Seattle Seahawks, serving as a receiving back. McKissic went undrafted out of Arkansas.
