PHOENIX (AP) - A teenage boy who was shot at a west Phoenix mall has died and a suspected shooter was arrested Thursday, police said.
Police announced Thursday afternoon that 27-year-old Daymond Deray Hayes had been identified as a suspect in the shooting and he was taken into custody a few hours later.
It was unclear if Hayes has a lawyer yet.
Police said officers were called to Desert Sky Mall on Tuesday afternoon in response to a reported shooting.
They said a 15-year-old boy was found shot inside the mall near the food court.
The teen was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but he later died from his injuries.
The boy’s name hasn’t been released.
Police said there was an argument between two groups of teenage boys and young men and it escalated to a shooting.
