CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - A man accused of stabbing his wife to death outside their apartment complex pleaded guilty on Friday to second-degree murder.
Police in Concord found Nathalia Da Paixao, 35, suffering from several apparent stab wounds in July 2019. She later died at a hospital.
Following an investigation, her husband, Emerson Figueiredo, 43, was charged with second-degree murder and held without bail.
During his hearing, prosecutors said the couple got into a heated argument and that Figueiredo started beating her with one of her high-heeled shoes. He eventually grabbed a knife and started stabbing her. Their daughter intervened, and got cut, while Da Paixao ran outside. Prosecutors said Figueiredo caught up with her outside and stabbed her again. Neighbors saw them.
Figueiredo is scheduled to be sentenced on Jan. 12, 2021.
