President Trump’s two scheduled campaign rallies this weekend in Nevada have been canceled due to coronavirus restrictions imposed by Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak.

But Trump campaign officials said the president will travel to Nevada anyway, saying Mr. Trump won’t yield to Democrats’ attempt “to keep the president from speaking to voters.”

The Las Vegas Review-Journal, citing a source familiar with the situation, reported that the president’s events in Reno on Saturday and Las Vegas on Sunday won’t go forward.

Nevada’s guidelines limit large gatherings to 50 people or less. Mr. Trump also has a fundraiser planned.

Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh said the president will visit the battleground state anyway. He promised to release details of new events there soon.

“Democrats are trying to keep President Trump from speaking to voters because they know the enthusiasm behind his reelection campaign cannot be matched by Joe Biden — a historically weak candidate controlled by the radical left who could hold a campaign event in a broom closet,” Mr. Murtaugh said. “The president’s uplifting message of American greatness resonates with people, while everyone knows that Biden is a tool of the radical left who would raise taxes and tank the incredible comeback that is already underway. President Trump will be traveling to Nevada on the dates planned.”

The Trump campaign’s co-chair in Nevada, Adam Laxalt, tweeted the news of the cancellation on Twitter.

“Outrageous! @realDonaldTrump rally venues in NV canceled,” he said. “Welcome to Sisolak’s Nevada — home of partisan political retribution. This is unprecedented — to cancel an incumbent President’s campaign stop inside 60 days of a major contested election in a swing state. This isn’t over!”
