KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Police in Kansas City are investigating after a man and a woman were found shot to death inside a vehicle near the Swope Park Campus in the southern part of the city.
The shooting happened Thursday afternoon, when officers were called to the area for reports of gunshots, police said. Both victims died at the scene, and police had not released their names or announced any arrests by Friday morning.
The latest killings have put the city on pace with last year’s record number of homicides. Thursday’s killings marked the 41st and 42nd homicides this year in Kansas City - the same number recorded by this time last year, according to data kept by the Kansas City Star. The city saw a record 182 homicides in all of 2020.
