It seems that one issue unites all of us, whether Democrat, Republican, independent, reform, Libertarian, socialist, etc. We all dislike ‘junk’ telephone calls. We have tried the “do-not-call” lists, blocking calls on our phones, having our carriers block calls and the like. Yet nothing seems to stop these annoyances.
However, there is a simple way to stop these calls. Simply add a tax of ten cents to every phone call. Such a tax will be only a minor inconvenience to most people, perhaps a few dollars a month. However, the solicitors associated with these junk calls make thousands of calls a month. A ten-cent charge on each of their thousands of calls may discourage, if not eliminate, such mass calling. It will also generate revenue for government.
