Right now I can’t even imagine what America will look like the next 36 weeks, much less 36 months — but rest assured the next presidential election will come, and when it does I hope we’ll still have something resembling a Constitution.

Yet winning elections cannot change the darkness of what much of our population has become, defying laws both human- and God-given. As Americans, we are a people constituting barely 5% of the world population. We are the great “experiment,” and despite being imperfect, have been a beacon of light for two-and-a- half centuries. Now the light fades. Ironically it was those very freedoms granted, abused and misused that have become our demise. So goes human nature.

Probably the only thing more tragic a life wasted is a nation wasted.
