The first official decision a presidential candidate makes is whom to chose as his vice presidential running mate. George H.W. Bush and John McCain had many questions to answer when they filled their tickets, but the booby prize goes to President Biden (“Kamala Harris’ staffers can’t quit their jobs fast enough,” Web, March 23).

Mr. Biden’s choice of Kamala Harris was a debt he owed to Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, who gave his endorsement to Biden in that state’s primary, thus boosting him to the Democratic nomination. Biden obviously didn’t care if his running mate was competent, or whether the American people would be well served in any task he assigned to her. Ms. Harris struts her insubstantial stuff along our southern border, in our nation’s capital and on European stages, embarrassing our country. Her store of knowledge is below that of the CliffsNotes variety, her gravitas that of a Throttlebottom. Let’s keep Mr. Biden in our prayers.
