OPINION:
What happened to the USA I grew up in and loved?
George Washington’s farewell address talked about the corruption of the two-party system, and here it is.
Professional politicians have ignored the Constitution and torn the republic apart. Our education system is guided by propaganda, and students are taught that certain groups are systematically oppressed in this country.
I am in my 10th decade and don’t know of any oppressed people, except our Japanese citizens interned at the beginning of World War II.
Our society and bureaucracy is politicized and driven by hatred for one another. My old Democratic Party is gone.
The leaders of the current one don’t care about enforcing our laws, and our cities are being overrun with criminal activity. No punishment is doled out; criminals have learned they will not be incarcerated.
So let them run free in our communities. Give them each a “scarlet letter.”
Criminals could be let out but wear an identifying collar with a GPS tracking device. Even white-collar criminals and politicians should wear these devices.
Yes, it would be embarrassing, but maybe others would learn as a result. Our cities are being deserted by businesses that cannot sustain the losses or cost of security.
God bless America.
