OPINION:
Both of our major political parties are derelict vessels filled with unconscionable lies, deceptions and shameless hypocrisies (“Devon Archer and the crumbling Biden defense,” web, Aug. 7).
Democrats defend the indefensible Biden influence-peddling schemes and the president’s ne’er-do-well son, even to the extent of a now-questionable plea agreement that no honest prosecutor would ever have brought.
Republicans are no better, defending with few exceptions the six-year Trump circus of brazen lies, megalomaniacal boasts and fighting-words threats.
This disgraceful show will go on regardless of whoever wins the 2024 election. I suspect truth serum would reveal that a majority of Americans and even members of Congress actually revile the state of our politics but are led by habit to follow the stale choices the parties provide.
Political courage is in very short supply.
