Police in Tennessee said a gunman took his own life early Sunday after killing multiple female relatives, including a teenage girl, in different parts of Memphis during a Saturday evening rampage.
Authorities said Mavis Christian Jr., 52, was found dead inside his car around 3:30 a.m. Sunday from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The discovery of Christian’s body ended a manhunt that started when police said he killed a woman and a 13-year-old girl and critically wounded a 15-year-old girl in a shooting on Fieldlark Drive just after 5:40 p.m. Saturday.

Christian was accused of killing another woman about 15 miles east in the Hickory Hill neighborhood roughly an hour later.
Police said he gunned down a third woman shortly after 9:20 p.m. on Howard Drive, which is about 11 miles west of the previous shooting scene.
“Preliminary information indicates this was a domestic violence incident, and the suspect is a known relative who fled each scene in a white 2017 Chevrolet Malibu bearing TN Tag #390-BHTM in an unknown direction,” police said in a statement early Sunday while the manhunt was still active.
Authorities haven’t identified the victims or shared how Christian is related to them.
